PRODUCT REVIEW - MAYBELLINE COLOUR TATTOO 24HR

Colour Tattoo 24HR Eye Shadow - £4.99

Unless you've been living under a beauty rock since the start of the year you'll have probably already heard about these eye shadows. I don't really get excited about new product releases but there was just something about these which got me hooked. After reading lots of reviews from American bloggers, I patiently (actually, not really) waited for them to come out in the UK, which they did last month. It took me a while to get my hands on them as everywhere I went seemed be sold out in the colours I wanted so I turned to the Internet and ordered these two (Immortal Charcoal & Permanent Taupe) from Superdrug.

The first thing I noticed is the thickness of this product which made it incredibly hard to use with a brush, so for the best results I use my finger which also makes it a lot easier to blend. At first there is a quite chalky look but that goes away as soon as you apply and blend well. They dry quite quickly, but you have plenty of time to work the product and it's really easy to build upon. It leaves a really silky finish to your eye lid and it certainly stays in place. These shadows don't just have to be worn on their own, they're also really good as a base. Now as for lasting 24 hours, I have no idea as I never wear make up for that amount of time. But I have worn these for at least 12 hours and I can confirm they look exactly like I did when I first applied. I don't actually own any Mac paint pots but I have heard they're comparable.

These eye shadows have to be one of my favourite purchases from this year and I reach for them every day. They're such great value for money and the fact they're so long wearing makes this product stand out from the crowd. I really hope Maybelline bring out more colours as I can see this being a really popular product for a long time!

Have you tried these eye shadows? What do you think?

  1. I've seen so many people rave about these but when I swatched some in store I just didn't see what the hype was all about. I think because I have combination oily skin, on me they would just crease! Great review though xo

  10. I really want to try these but the time they take to arrive to latinamerica is even longer :(. I think they would be perfect for a long day at university where you simply don't have time or energy to reapply your makeup. The taupe colour is so freakin pretty!

  17. I noticed the same thing.. I can ONLY apply it with my fingers - something I'm not a total fan of doing. I've got the taupe and white colours and do like them.. I just wish I could use my brush to better control the amount being applied and blend it a bit more carefully.
