Every now and again an email will appear in my inbox from a lingerie company asking if i would like to feature their brand. I usually politely decline and say it's a not something I'd like to mention on my blog (you know, it's kinda personal) but when a very friendly email popped in my inbox at the start of last month from Boux Avenue i became very interested. Being quite large chested (i have been since my early teens), i find it incredibly difficult to find bras that fit and are comfortable. I've gone through my fair share of expensive/cheap ill fitted bras that have left marks, bruises and back pain. Despite going to numerous places to get measured I've just never been able to find the perfect~ bra. I know I'm not alone in this, which is the very reason i decided to go ahead and do this post.
MY EXPERIENCE
I was very kindly gifted two items from the website which i picked myself. I decided to go for the Sienna full support balconette bra & the Dana full support lace balconette bra as like i said before, finding bras that fit is a nightmare. The last bra i bought was from La Senza which was a 36G, it didn't fit. But i decided to get the same size anyway because i know the size is different from shop to shop and as these are ''support'' bras, i thought i wouldn't have a problem. The package arrived a couple of days later and i was blown away by the presentation. I'm an absolute sucker for a nicely packaged parcel and Boux Ave really outdid themselves. The bras came beautifully wrapped in a branded box, floral tissue paper and sealed with their own sticker. The Bras we're neatly in place in the box with scented petals to give it a really personal touch. It's the most thoughtful parcel I've ever received and something like that can really encourage your opinions on an item.
After receiving these bras i made a promise to myself to wear them everyday, even if they hurt, didn't fit or caused whatever problems because i wanted to give them a honest review. A month later I'm still wearing these bras, not for the review. But because ladies, I've found it, I've found the perfect bra! The Sienna is the one, the one I've been waiting years to find. I don't have a gap in the middle, i don't have wires digging in to me and i can wear my clothes over the top without my chest starting to fall out (you know what i mean, we've all been there!) Even though the Dana is the same size, i find it a lot tighter to the point where i can't wear it for too long because it hurts, but the support i get from it is amazing it makes it worth it. I can't believe I've found finally found it and all for £26! I honestly can't recommend Boux Avenue enough. Their service & quality is outstanding and I've even asked for a voucher from my Mum for my birthday. Thank you for Boux Ave for helping me find my perfect bra!
So now on to the exciting bit! Just to prove everything I've said about Boux Ave being fabulous, they've only gone and given me a £50 voucher for one of you to win! How lovely is that? All you have to do is comment on this post with a link to what you would spend your voucher on and I'll pick a winner on Friday!

This would definitely be on my list:

So glad you've finally found something that fits :) I always have trouble too as I am slim but have a big chest and 32E isn't a common bra size! So many shops don't sell it, I usually have to order online and just hope it fits!
ReplyDeleteThe packaging here really does look amazing. I'd go for a balconette bra probably something like the Georgie Ditsy Stripe Bra- so cute!

I found myself nodding to everything you just wrote haha.
ReplyDeleteI'm like you and think finding a bra is ridiculous if you have boobs bigger than a 34D that actually look nice along with fitting.
If I won I would get this gorgeous bra http://www.bouxavenue.com/camilla-satin-and-tulle-balconette-bra-peach/100024-50pc as I only really own black and white bras, because I find 'pretty' ones never come in my size.

Well being larger of chest but still loving girlie underwear (a rarity to find) I'd pick this one - so pretty and lacy http://www.bouxavenue.com/lyla-satin-balconette-bra-purple-mix/100428-30lx
ReplyDeleteAnd of course the matching undies :)

It's so nice to see someone talking positively about bra experiences. I've never really considered ordering from online places and I'm a little at a loss for even answering why I've not. Bra shopping leaves me (very literally) in tears - I've found that some high street shops don't cater for anything below a 32b and I've been given sarcastic answers when I've asked if they stock lower sizes. I've found myself getting pointed towards childish monkey printed bras and have often walked out of shops in tears because the frustration got on top of me. Ridiculous - hence my an online experience should be much more comfortable! I'm definitely going to look in to that more, so thank you for posting about this.
ReplyDeleteIf I had the voucher I reckon I'd opt for something like this:
http://www.bouxavenue.com/chloe-lace-balconette-bra-black/100193-01bl
I prefer sticking to classic styles and this is just lovely.
Thank you for the opp, Victoria. :)

This would be what I'd get http://www.bouxavenue.com/marlena-balconette-bra-black/100163-01bl simple but so cute! :)
ReplyDeleteI always struggle to find the right bra, especially as my weight has fluctuated over 35 pounds over the past two years - I'm in different sizes all of the time and none of them fit properly!

I'm lucky I guess that I've never had problems finding bras to fit me! I am a sucker for pretty underwear though.

Great review and what a smart idea for a website. Finding the perfect bra is always difficult. It's definitely something that varies from store to store which is frustrating. i would spend my voucher on the Camilla satin and tulle balconette one found here: http://www.bouxavenue.com/camilla-satin-and-tulle-balconette-bra-peach/100024-50pc

Ooh, I'd love to win a voucher for Boux Avenue. I've never heard of them before and need some new undies. I used to wear pretty stuff all the time and then my shape changed, I became an IMPOSSIBLE to find size and I now have just four bras that fit me properly (2 black, a nude and a white one). I would treat myself to the Chloe Balconette in pretty colours.

I do agree that sizes change from store to store which can be very annoying and have wanted to try Boux Avenue out for a while as one of my fav type of shopping is for lingerie.

I feel your pain- I find bra shopping (along with jeans shopping) to be a horrible experience. I think there's only about 4 high street shops I can buy my size from and it gets frustrating seeing so many gorgeous, colourful bras but the only ones in my size are dull and really overpriced. Rant over, if I were lucky enough to win, I'd go for the Almeria bikini, such a pretty design!

I know exactly what you mean about ill fitting bras. For years I have gone through the same thing. I hate that different shops come up differently and even different bras from the same shop are rarely accurate.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE Boux Avenue! I spend a fortune in the Cardiff store so this would come in handy. Love that the DD+ bras are actually pretty and not boring nude colours.
ReplyDeleteI've had my eye on this one for a while http://www.bouxavenue.com/monique-spot-full-support-balconette-bra-pink--mix/100400-20px so pretty!

It's great to know there's such a good shop for bras because I have the same problem! I'll check the website even if I don't win the voucher :D
ReplyDeleteApart from lingerie, I am a sucker for Pijamas, they're just so comfortable and nice to wear so I'd definitely choose this:
http://www.bouxavenue.com/rebel-bow-print-playsuit-orange-mix/200693-50ox
Hope you like it! :) xox
I've never heard of them before, I usually just stick to M&S for underwear. I would go for this bra with the matching shorts in lipstick pink, so pretty!

Glad you've managed to find your perfect bra, it's amazing how much difference it makes xx

Ahh, I love knowing that people have found THE bra. Gives me hope. I have some preeetty good ones, but I'm not entirely sure I've found the one yet! This was the hardest decision for me though, I have a bit of a lingerie problem and I'm sure my bank account hates me because of it, but I've finally settled one this one! http://www.bouxavenue.com/tori-lace-moulded-plunge-bra-black/100155-01bl Beautiful and practical for low cut dresses. Perfect :) xx
ReplyDeleteTrying to not go crazy on their website!
ReplyDeleteI like this pink version http://www.bouxavenue.com/dana-full-support-lace-balconette-bra-dusky-pink/100211-20dp
xx
I too always have issues with finding bras that fit, especially as i am smack bang between a 32 and a 34, and an E cup, such a pain when shops stop at a DD!
ReplyDeleteI personally love the almost vintage style of this bra
http://www.bouxavenue.com/tori-lace-moulded-plunge-bra-pink--mix/100155-20px
and in fact nearly bought it at christmas, but my size wasn't in stock, i will have to order online though as this little search has reminded me of it, it just looks so pretty!
xo
What lovely products and the packaging is gorgeous :) I really like this: http://www.bouxavenue.com/flirty-frills-balconette-bra-neutral-mix/100556-10nx
ReplyDeleteThank you xx
such a great post, i'm fairly flat chested and quite often can't find the right size - i've been looking for a good online store for a while!
ReplyDeletei think i'd have to go for this pretty bra:
http://www.bouxavenue.com/georgia-spot-mesh-balconette-bra-coral/100007-50co
plus the matching knickers! :)

I think most of us girls have the same problem! I'm a small girl and for my size have a big chest so I find it hard to find a good bra!
ReplyDeleteIf I was to win this, I would spend it on some really good fitting bras to go with the hundreds of bottoms I have!

Such an amazing prize. I've heard great things about Boux Avenue. I'm quite 'average' chested and even I find it difficult to get bras to fit properly. It's such a pain that some stores differ in size even when they same the same thing on the label.
ReplyDeleteI'd go for the Chloe Lace Plunge Bra & Matching Knickers, and I'd still have money left over for something else!

Oh the eternal search for the perfect bra! Being a 32F I find it so difficult, and with the fact that bigger cup size bras tend to be more pricey, my underwear drawer is looking more than a little tired!
ReplyDeleteI would love, love, love the lyla satin set:
http://www.bouxavenue.com/lyla-satin-balconette-bra-black-mix/100428-01bx
so pretty and with that vintage feel. Love it! Keeping my fingers crossed massively!

I would get this bikini top and bottom set, because I am like you a bigger cup, I find getting bikini's that fit is almost impossible. Most places just do traditional women's clothing sizes, so I don't fit in my usual 12, sometimes not even in an 18! Because they offer cup sizes, and judging from your experience I know they will support, I can finally get a gorgeous STRAPLESS bikini that I've always wanted, and I won't be left self conscious!

Hi
ReplyDeleteThats great you've found a bra thats perfect for you which is always hard for someone. I'm a 34C and my favourite shop was la senza but most of the time their bras had way too much padding for my liking.
I don't see why people what to create a false advertisement by enhancing something that isnt there.
All my pajames came from la senza but now thats gone from box avenue I would get the cute blue Georgia ditsy stripe balconette bra and the matching shorts.
many thanks

How pretty are those bras! I'm so glad you posted about this brand, cause I've just looked and they do my size, which is really "unusual" so I normally have to spend £30+ in Bravissimo, but Boux Avenie is so affordable.
ReplyDeleteI'd get this neon orange lace bra if I won the voucher, such a cool colour!

ReplyDeleteLove that you did a review on this place. I am never sure about spending money on nice underwear as when you try it on in store it can fit fine, but out and about wear they aren't always as good, as you say bruises, digging, generally uncomfy. I have always wanted to try this shop, I walk past it everyday and hint to the bf but no luck so far! If I won it would definitely be this little number and the matching knickers, bringing the pastel trend to my underwear too! http://www.bouxavenue.com/georgia-spot-mesh-balconette-bra-primrose/100007-60pr
ReplyDeleteMajor fan of boux avenue! Discovered them last christmas when shopping with my boyfriend for a cheeky christmas present ;) I'd spend the voucher on this http://www.bouxavenue.com/lyla-satin-balconette-bra-purple-mix/100428-30lx with the matching thong! The lilac colour is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks!

I'd get the Tori lace briefs and moulded plunge bra...it's nice to see feminine, sexy underwear that isn't a thong!
ReplyDeleteevespikey[at]gmail.com
I'm also large chested but only petite so it's hard to find nice bras that fit! If I won I'd choose something I could wear day to day such as this:

or even this
http://www.bouxavenue.com/chloe-lace-plunge-bra-black/100192-01bl
but to be honest I love all of bouxavenue :)

Ohh I would definitely go for the Lyla satin balconette bra. I struggle to get pretty bras for the 'bigger bust', they are usually quite unattractive. But this one is a beaut!

They have such beautiful bras in selection! I can never find bras this cute when I'm the size I am. I'm stuck with all of these horribly nana-like bras that make me just sad. These bras are so girly and wonderful! And I'm totally a sucker for gorgeous packaging, as well. So here's to hopefully getting some gorgeous packaging on my chest, hah!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with the Chloe lace balconette bra in neon orange! So I would definitely get that if I were to win.

I love you for posting about Boux Avenue! I'd never heard of them before but I have so much trouble finding bras that fit well and that are pretty and are actually my size. I am absolutely grateful for boux avenue. i had problems with finding the right bra, either the size was never right or the fit was not right or the cut was absolutely wrong, and half of the time my boobs were falling out of my chest. i went into a mall in sheffield to find a good bra with my cousin and we accidentally stumbled into boux avenue. i was really doubtful i would find anything, but we tried anyways. the sales assistant set out to help me and we went through thousands of bras until she handed me the full support balconette bra. it was like magic!!! finally i had found something that gave me good coverage and support, and had the perfect cut. i dint have to worry about my boobs looking too splattered across my chest, or too pumped up in my outfits, it was perfect, and being a 32FF, i never say that about bras. And the best part is, they are really pretty and i dont have to worry about getting them in grandma colors and patterns. i can still be comfy, yet sexy!
