Date Night At Revolución De Cuba Nottingham

Last week myself and James popped along to Revolución De Cuba which you guessed it, is a Cuban themed restaurant which opened just before Christmas right in the centre of Nottingham. I’ve only ever been to one of these before in Sheffield  and I was only there for drinks, so I was really looking forward to trying the food and spending a bit more time there soaking up the atmosphere.

The place was quite dimly lit which makes it sound like a negative, but it was just super cosy really! Each tables had their own candies and the booths had lovely cushions. It was beautifully decorated with low hanging lights and prints on the wall, it was a Pinterest users dream!

We arrived at 6pm on Wednesday and it was already heaving, I couldn’t believe how busy it was for mid week! We were actually early for our table but they managed to squeeze us in which was much appreciated.

Whilst looking over the newspaper themed menus we picked our drinks, James being a typical guy and went for a beer whilst I tried the Ruby Punch which came in the cutest elephant shaped glass, it went down a right treat let me tell you!

When it came to ordering the food we decided to start with Tortillas which were really nice and the portion size was ideal for sharing. It was the perfect food to have whilst we chatted about our day. Next came the mains, I decided to go for tapas so I could try a few dishes whilst James opted for Chimichanga. My dishes were the Serrano Ham Brushetta, Iberico Ham Croquettas, Patatas Bravas and Albondiga Picante. They were honestly incredible, I was really happy with ones I chose (although it was very hard as they all sounded amazing), the dishes were full of flavours, some spicy, some garlicy and some cheesey. I really couldn’t fault any of tapas dishes at all, they were all fantastic and I really want to try the rest now!

After our mains we had another drink, this time I picked the Raspberry Mojito which was seriously refreshing after the hot food. Every day from 5-7pm they have 2-4-1 cocktails so I got 2 of these bad boys! Ohhhh yeah! Then it was time to pick our puddings, being the greedy little piggies we were, we went for the Churros and the Mini Selection which included Strawberry and Mango Empanadas, Chocolate Rum Truffles, (more)Churros with Caramel Sauce and Mini Strawberry Daiquiris. You know, just to make sure we hit our sugar allowance for the day! Again, these were just as yummy as our mains but unfortunately we couldn’t finish it all despite trying very hard!
After we finished our drinks and settled up the bill we popped upstairs to have a look at the Havana Bar. We walked in to find a Salsa class happening on the dance floor which was really unexpected but nice to see. We didn’t stay for a drink but it looked like a really nice bar, the perfect place for drinks on a night out.

We had the best evening at Revolución De Cuba and we both left feeling full, happy and would 100% go back again. One thing I do want to say is that there was a really nice waiting time between courses. I don’t like a restaurant which rushes you and ushers you out as soon as possible. We were there for nearly two hours and it meant it gave us time for our tums to settle before indulging some more food so that gets a big thumbs up from me.
