Santorini Part 1 - Anastasia Princess Hotel

When it came to going away this year, a Greek island was at the top of my list having never visited one before. James has been to quite a few but was happy to go again. So we looked at the typical places like Kos, Crete, and Rhodes etc. Santorini never even crossed my mind thinking that it was way out of our budget. After looking for weeks and not really getting anywhere we decided to go in to our local Thomson and let them do all the hard work...

The lady in the shop was brilliant, incredibly helpful but she was showing us places which just didn’t appeal. Either the hotels were too large, too far from the Airport (we had a strict no more than 45mins transfer), not close enough to the beach, you name it. I didn’t want to just settle; we’d spent months saving for our week away and wanted something we’d both really love. Then I mentioned Santorini, as you can imagine a lot of places were out of our budget but a couple weren’t, including the little gem that is Anastasia Princess. It was love at first sight, I was sold. We booked it there and then and my dream was coming true, we were going to Santorini.

Anastasia Princess Hotel is situated in the most perfect location, on the east coast of the island, 50m from the beach, bars and restaurants.  When James had said he wanted to spend the whole week on a beach I thought he was joking, he wasn’t, so this place was perfect.  The hotel has just 24 rooms (apartments and studios) and is divided into 2 halves, both of which get their own pool. Although this is a self catering hotel, snacks (no more than 10euros), and breakfast is available if you want it, we didn’t bother with this opting to buy fresh bread and fruit instead. I’d certainly say we had the best room, a super superior. We had our own separate staircase up to the studio, with a generous sized outside terrace area and plenty of space inside. We had a kitchenette, seating area, bathroom and bedroom with French doors which opens up to the terrace.

The staff at the hotel were wonderful, they couldn’t do enough for you. They were incredibly friendly and always spoke to us and asked how our day was. They also made the most amazing cocktails (6euros) at the bar too! Damn I miss those things! The rooms were cleaned daily and the whole place is well maintained and decorated every year. The wifi here was excellent too, no problems at all.

We really did have the best week staying here. Although we only spent a few hours evenings here and one day by the pool, it really did feel like a home away from home and it was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. You won’t be surprised when I tell you Anastasia Princess is voted the best place to stay in Perissia on Trip Advisor and I can a million % understand why! We’ve both said we’d love to go back, if only that was next week!

Stay tuned for part 2, the food & drink!
