MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY - 2 STONE
So some of you have noticed, some of you have asked about it but until now I've never felt comfortable talking about it, i guess i didn't want the pressure or the questions. But since I've reached my half way goal of a 3.5/4 stone weight loss i thought now would be a good time to finally address the fact that yep, i'm losing weight and quite a bit of it too.
Around 6 months ago i made the decision to dramatically change the way i lived my life by having a more positive outlook, living every day as if i was my last and being in a happier place with myself. The first thing i needed to do was lose weight, I've always been the type of girl who is happy with what they have and werk it, but with working from home and not doing as much as i had been i saw the weight creep up and before i knew it was the biggest i had ever been and i just didn't feel right. It was around this time i also started to get a lot of weight hate too. Now I've always had this kind of hate, it's nothing new to me but it was getting to the point where is was starting to effect my mood and i didn't like who i was becoming and so maybe it did give me the push i needed, but it was certainly not the reason for this weight loss and i don't want anyone to ever think it was.
I decided to join Slimming World, now this isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change. You are not restricted to anything, you do not have a calorie limit and you can still eat that bar of chocolate and bloody enjoy it too. It's all about eating what you want in moderation and lose weight. Perfect huh? Now at first i was like ''Yeah, ok then! We'll see'' but 6 months later I've lost 2 stone on doing nothing (well a few hilarious gym trips) but this. I think i'm the prime example of changing what you eat makes all the difference to your weight. Apart from pizza there's nothing I've had to cut out from my diet, well apart from processed foods but we all know that's full of rubbish anyway! All my meals are homemade, i get my 5 a day every day and i'm a lot fitter and healthier than I've been in years. Oh and don't think you have to give up the meals out or nights on the town either, as long as it's all in moderation you can still have a social life. Last week i went out for dinner, out with the girls twice, drank a llllllllllottttttttttt of vodka and still lost 2.5lbs. So you know, your life doesn't have to stop and it becomes part of your life so easily i don't even notice i'm doing it anymore.
I celebrate every lbs i lose (one week i lost 7lbs!) and i don't beat myself up on the lbs i put on because it's all part of it and it will happen. My next mile stone is another half a stone and to introduce exercise in to my routine. I did join a gym in Leeds but seeing as i don't live there anymore that's a little difficult. I'm going to start swimming weekly and eventually running and hopefully (fingers crossed) by June i'll be a few lbs away from my goal weight.
When i think about where i was 6 months ago i don't think i realised how miserable i had become, i really wasn't in a happy place but now i feel like i'm really on my way to being the person i want to be. The weight loss is just a small part of that, but it's certainly helped me gain a lot of perspective on my life.
I haven't decided if i'm going to mention this on my blog again, I've quite liked keeping it private but if i can help someone and support them then i'd be happy to keep updating. I'm planning on bringing foody posts to my blog too once i'm in my new place so if that's something you'd be interested in then let me know. I feel like i'm ready to talk about this now so if you have any questions please feel free to tumblr, tweet or email and i'd be happy to help!
Thanks for everyone who has noticed and wished me well, i really do appreciate it and it means a lot.
Here's to the next 2!

A big congrats on what you've achieved Victoria, not just the weight loss but have a more healthier and positive outlook! xx
ReplyDeleteVictoria you look fantastic! You've always been a very striking girl and, from being long time readers of your blog, we noticed you seemed withdrawn and not yourself when you stopped doing outfit posts. But you look absolutely fantastic and we are so happy for you. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the food-related posts!

Well done Victoria! I'm glad to hear that you have managed to get out of the unhappy place. I'm finding that I am getting more and more unhappy with the weight I lose, but I still have a way to go before I'm at my goal :( Need to be more positive.
ReplyDeleteReally very well done. These things aren't easy and you look fab (I always thought you looked fab before but now you look all happy and shiny and great). I can completely understand how hard it can be to speak up about it too, I have pretty much had the same problem as you in that I've never really worried so much about weight and just worked with what I had! I am now embarking on a challenge to myself to get in a bikini by summer so I am right here with you on the weightloss journey! :o)

Well done, fantastic result and glad you are feeling happier. My sister has lost over 3 stone and she loves SW and how it is more of a lifestyle change than diet.
ReplyDeleteI recently talked about losing weight, I've lost 2 stone since October 2011. Just from going to the gym. I feel so much better and it totally changes your mindset.

Well done you look fabulous, you always have though. Congrats x
ReplyDeleteSuch a great story and quite similar to mine. I moved back home after uni and worked from home and put a lot of weight on. I stopped going out and lost all my confidence. I joined Weight Watchers and lost just under 6 stone. It's taken two years and I'm still not at goal but I eat out all the time, go out most weekends and have plenty of fun. SO happy that you're happy :)
ReplyDeleteSounds very interesting! I never heard of Slimming World.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! You look fantastic. I would like to hear more about your weight lost!
I need to loose at least 7 kg.

You look great! Well done! I'm on my journey to lose weight too! It's nice to hear that you're enjoying the whole journey and still 'living your life' rather than despising you being on a diet!
ReplyDeleteGood luck

This is so great Victoria, I personally really appreciate that you've shared it on here, because you're showing that it is possible to lose weight and get healthy without going on some stupid fad diet!

im dieting atm and lost a whole stone in a week! it reallly is worth it, im feeling so much more positive about life!
ReplyDeleteYou've done SO well!
ReplyDeleteI was always slim, then I moved in with the boyfriend, got comfortable and ate out/ordered take aways. Last summer after feeling hideous putting my fat legs in shorts (I was a size 20 at my biggest!) I decided enough was enough. I have now lost 3stone. My weight loss is thanks to Slimming World, but only because I need the embarrassment of being weighed in front of strangers every week to encourage me not to buy that chocolate bar! I highly recommend Googling Slimming World recipes, its all 'normal' hearty meals but just made healthier - I still have a stone & a bit to go but still enjoy the occasional treat & it doesn't feel like 'a diet'
I get disheartened when I see clothes retailers size guides state size XL is a 14 though! No wonder why girls think they are overweight when they are not. :(
You look fabulous & very well done! Keep up the great work!!

struggling with weight loss myself, I can completely understand where you are coming from. Last year, I was also at the biggest I've ever been, and I felt very uncomfortable with it. In January, as a part of a New Year's Resolution, I decided to take up swimming every week. Since then, there have been dramatic results, but nothing too dramatic..I'm hoping to be able to lose another stone or two by the summer months!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I completely understand how hard it is to lose weight, especially when you become so used to eating certain things and doing things a certain way, and because of that I respect you and think that it's amazing that you've been able to come to such an achievement thus far. Definitely an inspiration for my weight loss!

Congratulations are in order! :)
ReplyDeleteI´m happy to hear you say that you don´t have to cut out yummy food in order to start losing weight. I completely agree that the key is moderation. I have been doing this for the last month now and I can already see changes. I know that, it´s not depriving myself because I still eat everything I want but it´s the quantity.Of course, picking up a fruit over a chocolate bar also does wonders :) I have matched the moderate eating with yoga at home.
Keep it up! :)
Wow so proud of you Victoria, you look incredible x
ReplyDeleteyou look amazing!! :) xx
ReplyDeleteWOW WOW WOW. You're doing so well. Keep it up! xxxx
ReplyDeleteWell done you! You are a stunner and look great, I think it's fantastic that you can prove via this post that moderation is the key. I hate the dictatorship that slams chocolate, carbs and anything worth tasting...I lost 4 stone due to just eating better and exercise so I *know* you will have success!xxx

I thought you'd lost weight! You look fantastic, you're doing amazing. When I go home for Summer I think I'll join a gym, I managed to lose 2 stone last year, but there's another stone I want to lose that I think will require the gym! x

well done for losing 2 stone! can't believe slimming world has made such a difference in just 6 months. i'm actually tempted to give it a go. you look so fantastic :) xx
ReplyDeleteYou look bloody fantastic and well done on the weight loss. It really isn't easy but as a lifestyle change the bad habits are swapped for the good ones and I a hundred percent agree that you cannot deprive yourself from your favourite junk foods. I followed Weight Watchers and lost over 7 stone and know your head has to be in the right place to enable the determination. Be proud. Be happy.

Well done on your weight loss, that's great - and you look great too! I lost about 2 stone a year or so ago. It can be hard, but you're right - your life doesn't have to stop, it's just about making a few changes! Good on you :) xx
ReplyDeleteThis post made me smile so much as I'm doing the exact same thing (except I'm doing it with Weight Watchers)! I've always been a curvy girl but over the last couple of years the weight has crept up and I've been unhappy with how I looked for a long time! I was nearly 13 stone at Christmas and so I started Weight Watchers and I've lost 1 stone and 2 pounds so far (aiming for 2 by June)! I feel so much better about myself, how I look in clothes and generally my outlook on everything! I truly believe it can change your life!
