So next month i'm finally reunited with my favourite city in the entire world, New York. I first visited with my Dad when i was 17 and ever since I've wanted to go back and i can't believe it's happening really soon. This time i'll be going with Mumma Price so for 5 days it'll be a total girls trip and i couldn't be more excited about it. We already have a list of places we'd like to visit with regards to sightseeing, shopping, eating and drinking but we're going to get all organised and plan out our days as best we can so this is where you come in! If you've ever been to New York or actually live there then i'd love to hear your suggestions of other places to visit etc and if you've done blog posts that would be even better! Please feel free to comment, email or tweet. Thank you!
Oh, I'm jealous! A girlie few days in NYC sounds amazing. I've only been with boys [my brother and then a couple years later my boyfriend], would love a trip there with my mum.
ReplyDeleteI'd recommend the bus tour. It's a great way to see the sights. My boyfriend and I did the one which also took us on a ferry to Staten Island. These tickets come with discounts, so we managed to get 10% off our meal at Planet Hollywood [best meal we had there!]. Next time I go to NY [hopefully next year] I want to do top of the rock, but we did The Empire State, which was mindblowing. Of course you may have done these things when you went before, but I thought I'd mention them just incase! :) There is so much to do and see in New York, it's hard to get it packed into a few days - and you feel like you need a holiday to recover after! Hope you have a wonderful time :) xx
P.S. Your photos are beautiful. x
ReplyDeleteI am SO jealous I can't tell you, it's my favourite place on earth. This time last year I was there *sobsob* anyway, tears aside, you must go to Penelope's for breakfast, it's an amazing kitsch little cafe near Bloomingdales and the pancakes are something else. All the coffee is served in different cups too, just really cute! Hope you have an amazing time! xx
ReplyDeleteMake sure you take a trip to SoHo! It's such a cool place, totally different to Manhattan! XXX
ReplyDeleteThere's an amazing restaurant in Hell's Kitchen called Vynl - brilliant food & drinks, and the best bathrooms in NY (they are themed around famous rock & pop stars).
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous - have fun! xx
There's an italian restaurant called Lavo, you can make a booking on opentable.com through the website..the food is amazing, its not super expensive and its the best for people watching!
ReplyDeleteOh my! So so jealous! I really want to go to New York one day! Your pictures are gorgeous! xxx
ReplyDeleteAh I'm so jealous! I went in December and already wanting to plan a trip back! I've written three separate blog posts about my time there (one for each day) the first one is here http://somethingtosay-fashion.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/new-york-update-first-evening.html?m=0
ReplyDeleteHave an amazing time! Xx
New York is one of the places I really really want to visit. I hate flying but I'm thinking of growing some and just booking up to go next year for my birthday. Xx
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend Katz Deli! They filmed Where Harry Met Sally in there, and they do the best loaded sandwiches! It was featured on Man Vs Food too! Its a little off the beaten track so not that touristy which is always a good thing! http://katzsdelicatessen.com
ReplyDeleteI'd also suggest going to 'The Top of the Rock' rather than the Empire State, the queues are less and you get the Empire State in your landscape pix too!
Hope you have an amazing time - I'm jealous! I love NYC!

Ah I can't wait to visit NYC one of these days, we're planning to go this year or next. I'd have to visit tiffanys, and do the whole man v food circuit haha x
ReplyDeleteAh, I am so jealous! I went for my 16th birthday, and immediately fell in love. Need to go back! As for things to see though, I only know the most obvious places (rockerfeller center/times square/etc etc.) Have fun! xx
ReplyDeleteJuniors Deli which is just off Times Square is AMAZING! Don't forget to pick up your international visitors discount card from Bloomingdales and be sure to take as many cheesy pics as your heart desires :o)
ReplyDeleteWhat a dream, such an amazing city. I'm sure you'll have a great time with your mum :)
ReplyDeleteGirls trip, woo!
x
I live in NYC! I did a blog post for first time visitors on etiquette and all that so I don't think that will be of use to you. But if you can I highly suggest you go to the Brooklyn Promenade and walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. There is a great neighborhood near there called Brooklyn Heights and it's really beautiful it has brownstones and it's just really great I highly suggest you visit there I posted pictures here:http://fabigaelle.blogspot.com/2012/10/brooklyn-heights.html . And in that neighborhood there's a restaurant called Five Guys burgers, they have a couple in Manhattan too, and it has great reviews. Have fun while you're here!!!
ReplyDeleteAaa I love New York!!
ReplyDeleteWould definitely recommend going to the top of the Rockefellar centre at around 5ish, its around the time the sun sets and it is an absolutely beautiful view!!
Planet Hollywood also do some really good and interesting food:)!
So Jealous aha! x

It sounds amazing! It's been quite a few years since I was last in NYC but seeing these photos of it again gives me chills, there's just something about that city! I can't recommend to you enough to divert off the main roads as you'll find some amazing little gems hiding in the side streets!

Ohhhh do you know if the ice skating rink is still going to be at central park? That was amazing experience!
ReplyDeleteWow luck you! I'd LOVE to go back. It's such a cool city. I'd defo recommend that you go to the High Line if you have time. It's an elevated garden/walkway through the city. A must-see. Enjoy!!

Ooh, always willing to help with New York recommendations!!
ReplyDeleteFOOD:
Panna II Indian restaurant. The entire places is crammed with fairy lights and 'chilli pepper' lights. It's freaking incredible!! Really reasonably priced, good food and you can take your own booze. Order some puri bread with your curry!
Lansky's deli near Central Park. Really tasty food such as burgers and grilled cheese. I think it's like two blocks from the park and you can order a picnic basket to takeaway.
El Centro Mexican cafe/restaurant. Really fun decor and the food is super tasty! I recommend going at the weekend for brunch and having Huevos Rancheros and some Sangria! Prepare to be a little tipsy afterwards though ;)
John's Pizzeria on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. A fairly small, basic pizza place but the walls are full of scrawled writing and graffiti and the pizza is delicious!
Also if you just want to grab a slice of pizza on the go, seek out a Pizza Famiglia. It's a chain so theres tonnes of them, but the pizza is really good!
PLACES:
Shakespeare's Garden in Central Park. A really, stunningly beautiful pocket of peace and quiet in the park which is full of beautiful flowers. There's a bench in the middle and if you sit there and look up through the trees you can just see a peek of the towering skyscrapers.
Liberty Island - This one seems kind of obvious, but I'm not talking about going to look at the Statue of Liberty... what I love about Liberty Island is the view back across the water of Manhattan. I could sit there for hours just watching :)
Hope you find some of these to your taste! I'm super jealous! New York is my favourite city in the world and I miss it terribly!!

My favorite restaurant not just in NYC but probably ever: Cafe Katja on Orchard Street between Broome and Grand - incredible Austrian food, excellent service.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Petite Abeille is an awesome Belgian restaurant that has delicious moules frite. They have several locations.
Enjoy NYC!
You lucky thing! I'd love to go to New York, mostly for the shopping :) xx

So jealous!! I went in june, and I would definitely say its great to plan your days!! if its not on your list I would seriously advise the sex and the city tour, totally girly, lots of booze and cupcakes, and best of all you get to see bits of manhattan you may otherwise have not seen, another is the tv and movie tour, you get to see the friends building etc :), ooo and the water taxi is a fab day trip.. I wrote day by day posts on what I did out there if you would like to look, you should find them here: http://ahintofsparkle.blogspot.co.uk/search?q=new+york+day

If you are planning on doing a lot of the tourist attractions you should consider a New York Pass, which you buy beforehand on this website - New York Pass Website
ReplyDeleteIt means you will save a lot of money and probably end up doing trips you may not have done beforehand as they are included! My bf and I got one and it meant everything was paid for in advance, meaning more money for shopping :-)

Oh so jealous! NYC is my favourite place too, I've only been there once but have been wanting to go back ever since. If you're an American TV buff like me you should definately seek out the NBC and HBO stores!! All I need in my life is a Dunder Mifflin tee.

go to top of the rock instead of the empire state the queues arent as long and the view is better as there is no iron bars! Also try "burger heaven", "good enough to eat" (BEST BREAKFAST PLACE EVER) and you have to try deli 810 near the wellington, their toasties are to die for! xxx
ReplyDeleteI went to NYC at the end of November last year, it was incredible and has fast become my favourite city.
ReplyDeleteI've just written a post about it...

All I would say is plan everything you wana do!
You will have a ball! x
Ahh super jealous. I was there this time last year :) I'd say head to Williamsburg, it's got amazing cute little stores full of amazing finds and the BEST vintage shops that sell things for pennies. Also, head to a store called Reformation I think it's in Soho, I bought the coolest Levi's denim jacket, that had been customised. Everything is one of and the store is just beautiful. Have an amazing time :) xxx
ReplyDeleteI really do <3 New York!
ReplyDeleteMy biggest tip is wear comfy shoes, I pretty much destroyed my feet when walking everywhere on the first day.
& I know it's not for everyone but I really loved the Jersey Gardens outlet mall. It's about half an hour out of the city & shopping is so cheap then tax free!
Oh I'd love to go back! A credit card & comfortable shoes is a must!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to New York for the first time in February 2014! I'm already so excited and it's a year off! x
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good time there!
ReplyDelete:)
So insanely jealous, I would love to visit New York, especially all the places from Gossip Girl I think they have a tour you can do :)
ReplyDeletehttp://wwwclairabelle.blogspot.co.uk/
LOVE NYC! I've been there many times and even lived there for 3 months as I interned with a company in the fashion district! The last time I was there was last August. It had been nearly 4 years since I had lived there and the biggest difference I noticed was how good the shops in Soho had become! That has only happened in the past few years and China is a lot nicer than it used to be so definitely have a look there! You could start in Chinatown and then work your way up through Soho! You can pick up some really nice bits and pieces and I'm not just talking about designer knock offs. My favourite area of the city is around definitely around Central Park! Going up 5th Avenue towards the Plaza, or up 8th Ave toward Columbus Circle! And that is before you even get into Central Park. The advice I would give is just to take off by foot and explore the city! It doesn't matter if you get lost... just turn around and you'll find your way back in no time! I used to do this all the time when I lived there and you wouldn't believe the hidden treasures I found! :) Hope this helps :)
