This is my mini collection (i designed and made it all by myself) it's not recent work as it was done at the end of second year (May) but I've only recently done a photo shoot for it. My tutor needed photos of my work to send to somewhere to try and gain independent funding for the college so we got randomly picked. I'm not bothered, it means i actually get photos of my work. For the brief we had to make a collection about what we think makes Britain British, so i looked into different cultures and picked Indian. The silks are 100% Indian and come from a very small family run shop in Leicester. I'm not going to lie, the fabric wasn't cheap but i think it makes the garments so much nicer. I haven't done anything to the colours, they are actually this bright. Sewing those sequins took 12 hours and oh my did my head hurt after that! The gold is screen printed and the pattern is something i drew up on photoshop, it's also based on Celtic patterns. I'm really pleased with what i did, but i was very glad when it was all done. This year i have to double it, and I'm dreading it already!
But anyway, i hope you like them! I'd love to know what you think...
Wow, such lovely bright colours! Well done you, I don't think I would have the patience to sew sequins for that long! x

I'm pretty blown away that all the clothes are handmade. They look really good! Is sewing and garment making part of the course you are doing?

ReplyDeleteI love the pink and red outfit on the left - the fabrics are amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, some of the bitchy stuff people have been posting on your formspring is ridiculous, they're probably from the type of people that yell at cheese in the super market and knit sock puppets to be their friends. (Got a bit carried away there but you get the jist) Anywaaay, I'm glad you're not letting them get you down, you're blog is fabulous :) xxx
so amaazing!
ReplyDeleteyou're truly talented Victoria :) x
Gorgeous pieces Victoria, you clever gal! I always think the fabric of a garment makes the world of a difference. When I studied Fashion Design and Garment Construction, I always found that quality fabric was easier to cut and work with! Well done lovely! xxxx
ReplyDeleteThese look gorgeous, I remember one of my flatmates at uni slaving away over a sewing machine for her fashion course! I don't envy you! God luck with it all
