Family Holidays on a Budget with Holiday Gems

Majorca is one of Spain's Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean. It's known for beach resorts, sheltered coves, limestone mountains and Roman and Moorish remains.

Travelling is one of lifes greatest joys and one I like to partake in as often as possible. I'm very fortunate to have visited quite a few countries in my 29 years from as far as Indonesia and as close as Ireland (as of last week) and with the big 30 next year, I've also got a few trips for then too! I know some people like to go all out on their holidays, I'm talking 5* massive resorts but you don't have to spend a fortune to have a good time. A couple of years ago myself and a friend looked in to last minute cheap holidays to Majorca and came across a right bargain, a week all inclusive for us both for just over £500. With flight time only a couple of hours, we were sat on the beach with a cocktail by lunchtime. If you have the time and patience it's worth shopping around as you really can find some absolute steals.

Thinking of heading to Majorca? There's loads to do, either as couples, families or as friends...

Whilst we were there we did a boat trip (a must do) which gives beautiful views of the island. There's a few places where you can book these along the beach and it's well worth taking a few hours out of the day to do it. You can also go gliding which was SO MUCH FUN.

Want to do something cultural? Get yourself to the Catedral de Mallorca. Designed in the Catalan Gothic style but with Northern European influences, it was begun by King James I of Aragon in 1229 but only finished in 1601. It sits within the old city of Palma atop the former citadel of the Roman city, between the Royal Palace of La Almudainaand the episcopal palace. It also overlooks the Parc de la Mar and the Mediterranean Sea.

As you can imagine there's a lot of bars too so if you like a drink (or 5) then you're sorted. Measures in Europe tend to be pretty generous so always keep that in mind and drink responsibly.

I really loved our little trip to Majorca and would love to back.
