GOING TO THE LIGHT SIDE WITH BEN BROWN HAIR DERBY + WIN A COLOUR MAKE-OVER!

Ben Brown Hair 55 Queen St, Derby DE1 3DE

In the past 2 years I've gone from ombre, to red, to (dodgy) ombre again. On reflection, I've not been very happy with my last two salon visits as I've never quite got what I've asked for. Don't get me wrong, I've never been unhappy with it but it's never been 'just right'. I had an idea of what I wanted but I knew it would take some time and I'm very precious of my hair so didn't want to competently ruin it with bleach either. A couple of months ago i found out about a new product taking the hairdressing world by storm, Olaplex. Which is much better for your hair than other products and pushes the colour further without causing damage. I was sold, instantly and set about finding a salon local to me...

Ben Brown Hair came up after a couple of searches and thankfully it wasn't too far from me, about half an hour in the car. A couple of tweets later, emails and a phone call I finally went down to have a chat. It was brief as he was super busy but he was incredibly friendly and said what I wanted to have wouldn't be a problem and I had an allergy test there and then. I wasn't planning on getting my hair done until the new year but when i was this picture I rang him straight away to book in. Unfortunately he was booked up on Saturdays right until January which I was super gutted about, however he said he would book me in for Sunday a couple of weeks later, just for me. Now if that isn't service I don't know what is.

I headed over to see Ben on Sunday and was greeted with ''Hello beautiful!'' and a big bear hug. We sat down and spoke about exactly what I wanted and showed him a couple of examples I had seen on Pinterest. He explained that he would get it to as close as he could but I may need to come back in a few weeks for some more tones put through etc. Obviously that wasn't a problem, I trusted him and for the first time in a long time I knew I'd be leaving with something gorgeous.

I was in the salon for nearly 5 hours, although an hour of that was probably just chatting! Ben went through every single thing he was doing in such great detail it was hard to not feel at ease, even when after the first load of colour made my hair orange. Literally. He was like ''Right, I'm going to show you your hair, but don't worry, you won't be leaving like this.'' and boom, orange. As I had previously left a salon not far off this in the past it did take me a good few mins to believe him but I had faith and I wasn't wrong. Next came the Olaplex  and toner, one more wash and then it was cutting and styling. I didn't have a lot off, just an inch to remove the dead ends and let him work his magic with the styling and boy did he do that! I left the salon feeling a million dollars, he did exactly what I asked for and then more and I honestly feel like I've got a friend for life. He's one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and I couldn't be happier with the service I received.
