How to Pack for a Quick Weekend Getaway

When the trials and tribulations of the daily routine become too much to bear, it makes sense to take a few days off and book a weekend away somewhere. In addition to recharging your batteries, this will also enable you to experience and enjoy the sights and sounds of a captivating destination.
Although packing might seem like a chore, this task can create a lot of excitement and get you in the mood. But what will you need to take for a quick weekend getaway? Well, here are a handful of essential items you can’t afford to do without.

Luggage

First and foremost, you will need to bring appropriate luggage according to the type of break you are going on. Backpacks and rucksacks are perfect for adventurous exploits, while a compact suitcase is great if you only have a carry on allowance with your flight. Retailers like Tesco have a wide range of options to choose from, suitable for whatever type of trip you're taking.

Comfy yet stylish footwear
If you want to do lots of walking and exploring on your weekend away, you will need a comfortable and durable pair of shoes or trainers. Having said that, try to pick a stylish option so you don’t need to take alternative footwear with you when dining out or having a few drinks.

Lightweight waterproof jacket
Unless you are guaranteed sunshine in your chosen destination, you never know when a sudden downpour might occur. So, take a lightweight waterproof jacket with you that looks good while out and about, but also serves a functional purpose.

Appropriate headwear
During the height of summer, a broad-brimmed hat or baseball cap can keep the sun out of your eyes, but can also add that little something to your outfit. However in winter, you will need to protect your ears and keep warm with the help of a woollen beanie.

Toiletries

Don’t go overboard when it comes to toiletries, because for just a few days away you will be able to cope with the basics. What’s more, your hotel or accommodation should have a few essential items too.

Travel towel
Again, your accommodation should have towels for you to use. But if you are camping or staying in a hostel, you will need to bring your own. Thankfully, travel towels can be packed up tightly and won’t take up a lot of room, enabling you to take another dress or shirt.
Along with these essentials, pick out a few fashionable yet functional outfits, which exude flair but are also practical enough for wearing every day. By doing so, you should be able to have the best time possible during your quick weekend getaway.

  3. Love how you don't overpack. I used to be able to fit everything in a carry-on, but I find it a bit harder now half of the space is taken by my camera. Haha!
