NORTH YORKSHIRE OX PASTURE HALL HOTEL

The Hotel
Ox Pasture Hall is situated in seventeen acres of picturesque grounds and offers some amazing views of the historic North Yorkshire Moors. The hotel is in easy reach of Filey, Whitby, Helmsley, York and is very close to the sea with Scarborough being only a stones throw away. Oozing luxury, comfort and stylish charm, this hotel is the ultimate in romantic getaways. A warm and welcoming country house retreat, where you will be looked after from the moment you arrive, until the time comes to tear yourself away, which believe me is very difficult! I can imagine this place being absolutely beautiful in the summer time and i can see why it's popular for weddings. Rooms are available from £89.

Afternoon Tea
After a 2.5 hour drive up from Nottingham and after getting a little bit lost on the way, afternoon tea was very much welcomed in the hotel lounge, by this point i was gasping for a cuppa! Priced at £15 per person, you get a selection of sandwiches, sweet treats and tea or coffee. Now, i'm a big fan of afternoon tea, but i must admit i think this to be a little bit pricey for what you get. I didn't actually like any of the sandwiches, i prefer my sandwiches to just have butter so they were a little wasted on me but James said they were nice. The cakes were also nice, although James ended up having more as again, they weren't my favourite flavours but the scones were beautiful, as was the tea and the atmosphere more than made up for it. Although the afternoon tea wasn't to my taste, the groups of people who we saw come and go certainly thought otherwise and it became apparent that it was very popular for the hotel. We ended up spending a few hours here after tea, just chatting and having some drinks on the comfy sofa watching the world go by. It really was the perfect Saturday afternoon.

The Room
After a while, we decided to head back to our suite and get ready for dinner that evening. Each of the 32 bedrooms and suites are individually designed and decorated with sizes and styles to suit everyone - from the classic double bedrooms which are ideal for shorter stays, deluxe for that special occasion, four poster bedrooms for that romantic treat or Suites for the ultimate luxury break in Yorkshire. We were very lucky to call Suite 31 our home for the night. Complete with bedroom, living area and massive bathroom. As you can see it's beautifully decorated with pine furniture and there's a very minimalist feel which makes the suite incredibly calm and relaxing. There's tea & coffee facilities and an iron & irnoing board if you're planning on wearing something nice for evening, which we both did. The taps in the bathroom have a waterfall effect which amazed me like you wouldn't believe and it was so lovely to be in a bath big enough for two.  It was a very cosy and warm room, the king size bed was like sleeping on a cloud and i think we both could have happily stayed for another night or six.

The only downside i have to this room is the non existant interent connection. Between afternoon tea and dinner, i'd planned on doing some work and James wanted to watch his football team play their evening match. So we were both a little bit annoyed we couldn't do either, especially when advertised that each of the rooms have a high speed connection. But hey, if you're looking to leave your phones at home and shut yourself off then this room is certainly designed for you.

Dinner
At 8pm we headed over to the Courtyard Restaurant for our 3 course dinner, the toom was low lit with beautifully set out tables. Firstly we had an appetizer c/o the kitchen of slow cooked pork with a selection of home made breads. To start i picked the Chicken roulade, wrapped in Parma ham, red cranberry marmalade (£7.50) and James went for his favuprite Traditional prawn cocktail (£7.95). In between this and our main, an amuse bouche of butternut squash soup was bought out to set us up nicely for our next course. For my main i decided to go with the braised brisket of beef, cream mash potato, silver skin onions (£15.95) and James went for the two tone lamb, butternut squash puree, courgette (£21.50). To follow, we both decided to go for the cheese board (£8.50)  as we were both full of sweet treats from that afternoon. We then took our drinks to the lounge to finish of the evening in front of the log fire. It was a bit disappointing to hear the bar closed at 11, as well as room service so unfortunately these drinks were our last. But we'd had an enjoyable romantic evening, the food was delicious and we were both ready for a good nights sleep.

Breakfast
Ahhhh breakfast! The most important meal of the day and also my favourite! You can pretty much make up your own cooked breakfast, but with a long day ahead of us we both decided to go for a traditional full English. There was also a selection of cereals, fruit, yogurt, toast and croissants. Something for everyone. I stocked up on tea and after a short while we were ready for departure.

Finally...
Ox Pasture Hall Hotel is perfection, it is the ultimate place for a getaway and to re charge. The whole place was comfortable, relaxing and the staff were incredibly lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Although i was very kindly offered this stay for free, we have both said we would love to go back in the summer and explore North Yorkshire a little bit more. Thanks again Ox Pasture for a pleasurable trip. Ahhhh i miss that bath so much already!
