REVIEW - LAURA MERCIER FOUNDATION & HOURGLASS PRIMER

LAURA MERCIER Silk Creme Foundation - £33 ($43)
HOURGLASS veil mineral primer 10ml - £20 ($18)

I've always been really lucky with my skin, I've never really any problems with it and i'd happily leave the house without any make up on. But one thing i am aware of is occasionally uneven skin tone, which is why i wear foundation. I've heard wonderful things about Laura Mercier (i think it was Kate who first raved about it) and it's been on my wishlist ever since! So naturally, whilst i was in America and apparently money was no object, i decided to get matched at Sephora and pick it up. I was matched to cream ivory and i'm very happy with the shade, it's a perfect match for me. I've been using this for the past month and i literally cannot express how much i love this foundation, it is the best foundation i have ever used and it so worth the price tag a million times over. A little goes a long way to give amazing coverage, it's easy to blend in and it leaves my skin looking really dewy and healthy.

As i was picking up a decent foundation, i thought it made sense to pick up a good primer too. This again is another product I've heard wonderful things about in the blogging world but it is very expensive, so i decided to pick up the 10ml version. I've been using it some days with the foundation and some days without, i can't actually notice a difference the longevity of my foundation during the day but on nights out i certainly notice a massive difference with the nights i wear it, in fact one night i was very naughty and went to bed in my make up (don't do it kids!) and woke up and my bronzer and blusher was still in place like i'd just put it on. When i think of the dancing i'd done i thought this was very impressive and really made me think about this being a miracle product.

Overall i love both of these products, i think they've made a massive improvement to my daily make up and i would certainly re purchase both again. For more examples of me wearing these products click here, here and here

  1. I really like Silk Creme, too! I'm just disappointed with its staying power (I live in a tropical country) but the finish is absolutely gorgeous!

  5. Aw I really want the Silk Creme, I use the tinted moisturiser and it's brilliant but think the foundation would be better for nights out! Think we have fairly similar skin by the sounds of it so may try this :)

  9. I am glad to hear you like the foundation as I have just bought it myself on a trip to Liberty recently and of course, I did get persuaded to also buy the Laura Mercier Primer. I am yet to try both of them on a regular 8-10 hours long work day but after trying them in the shop I got very excited. Most of the time, when I shop for a new foundation I go to the shop and I ask them to put a little bit of it into a small container for me to take and try at home because if they apply it on my face in the shop I usually end up with a flaky skin. NOT THIS TIME! So I just said to myself - if I can leave the shop without a flaky skin and with a really nice colour and finish I just have to have it :-)!
