THE BEAUTY SERIES - FOUNDATIONS

I often get asked what my favourite products are to use for my face, eyes, cheeks etc so I thought I’d do a bit of a beauty series and feature my most used/favourite products. This week I’m talking about my favourite foundations. I’d like to think I have a good foundation collection, which gives me range in colours, finishes, consistency, coverage and are all various price ranges. These are the ones I use on a daily bases and I’ve been using them from 3+ weeks to a year.

AVON 'MEDIUM WHEAT' 30ML £10*
My newest and favourite foundation from the collection, to me it is ‘perfect’ (finally I have my perfect foundation) it’s silk like finish leaves my skin looking fresh and hydrated. It’s really easy to blend and I’m so happy to say that I still have pretty good coverage at the end of the day. The only thing that puts me off is a slightly is the plastic scent that comes with it, but it’s certainly bearable and it doesn’t change the product at all. I honestly can’t rate this foundation enough, I will certainly be re purchasing it and at £10 a bottle it’s not going to break the bank at all.

RIMMEL 'IVORY' 30ML £6.99
This is my full coverage foundation, it’s the one I go too when i’m wanting a really heavy look. It’s a very thick formula and quick to dry but it is easy to blend. The product is meant to leave the skin feeling hydrated which I would have to disagree with, I wouldn’t say it’s cakey, or that drys my skin out but I can feel that I’m wearing thick coverage and I do look forward to taking this off at end of the day! I’ve bought repeated bottles of this and I’ll continue to do so. At the high street price of £6.99 I think it’s really good value for money and it’s been in my collection since 2010!

CHANEL VITALUMIERE AQUA 'BEIGE TENDRE' 30ML £36
I use this foundation when I want really light coverage and an even skin tone. It’s a very light product as it’s mixed with water but I do find a small amount goes a long way. I like to use this product when I’m wearing minimal make up and want a more ‘natural’ look. It’s one of the most expensive ones, so i can understand why you wouldn't want to spend that much but it is one of my favourites and i've been using it for over a year now so i would say it's worth investing.

ILLAMASQUA 'LF 140' 30ML £21.50
This is the lightest out of all the foundations, which has it's good and bad points. I did a review last week so please go there if you want to read more.

NEW CID 'VANILLA' 30ML £26*
When I attended the NEW CID event back in January I saw this foundation being used by their MUA on one of the girls. We got try out the product and I liked it straight away. So I was really happy when an email popped in my inbox a couple of weeks asking if I’d like to trial one myself. The consistency is probably my favourite out of them all, to me it’s quite mousse like but not overly thick like some foundations you can get. It’s lovely to blend in and gives me a really nice finish. It is the darkest out of all my foundations, but not that dark that I look like I’ve got a totally different skin tone on my face. I like this foundation when I’m going for a ‘bronze’ look and sun kissed. I have tried it with my Illamasuqa one just to see how much the colour changes and it’s actually a really nice colour so that’s another one to add to the list! It is expensive as make up goes and even though i do really love this product i don't know if i love it enough to re purchase it at that price.

  4. I'm currently using a maybelline one. But mixed with the 17 bb cream, it does the job for me... although that Avon one does look good! :)

  6. I feel the same way about the Rimmel one. I like the coverage but it's definitely not for everyday use.

  10. I loved this post! I am a sucker for foundations! I currently alternate between collection 2000 and Estee Lauder! I guess my favourite depends on the type of coverage I'm after! X

  14. I always struggle to find a pale enough foundation and I;ve found that high street brands are often too dark, their idea of ivory is wayyy to dark on me, I love illamasqua foundations, they literally go from white to black!, bobbi brown is also good for fair skinned, lovely post! x

  15. I think you get what you pay for with foundation, I have literally tried them all and set on Chanel pro lumiere for full coverage and MAC face & Blody for light to Medium to build up. I would rather go hungry than be without these foundations haha xx

  17. I use the Rimmel foundation quite regularly and I know exactly what you mean about looking forward to taking it off at the end of the day! I do really love the coverage though.
I havent tried any of the other foundations, I'm a bit safe and dont really tend to try new ones, I find it hard to match colour to my skin and hate buying one thats too dark then never being able to use it! Reviews like this definitely help me consider what to go for next

  18. My current favourite is actually Estee Lauder Double Wear Maximum Coverage. I've got pretty horrible skin at the minute and had accepted I wasn't going to get a natural finish with the coverage I wanted so just went for the highest coverage possible. But when I tried it (with my Sigma F80), it's possibly the most natural looking foundation I've used as long as I don't go crazy, with perfect coverage! Fully obsessed! Wow, long comment right there.

  19. Great Post, its really interesting to see the variation in your collection, I have never used any fo these. I have a pretty mixed collection too depending on my needs and I often mix them aswel! My current main one is Mac but I have two No.7's and a Rimmel one which generally get use each week. I've just trialed a clinique one, don't think its for me though! Posting a review today!

  21. I've been using Vitalumiere Aqua for about a year now, and am on my second bottle, it's so good! Have you found that yours changes colour though? I've found that mine has gone slightly orangey now, which is a shame because it used to be the perfect colour on me!

  22. I'm with the Estee Lauder girls when it comes to foundations, I splashed out on Double Wear Light for my wedding makeup and love it. Good coverage, not too heavy and really lasts, even on a greasy face day. Though I keep meaning to try mineral foundation - Bare Minerals, Jane Iredale, Bobbi Brown or Laura Mercier would be the ones I'd try. Anyone got any mineral makeup recommendations?
